TRAVEL THROUGH THE REMOTEST CORNERS OF NAGALAND. EXPERIENCE ONE OF THE WORLD'S GREATEST TRIBAL GATHERINGS, THE HORNBILL FESTIVAL. OPTION TO EXTEND FOR A 'BEHIND THE SCENES' EXPERIENCE IN THE WORLD RENOWNED KAZIRANGA NATIONAL PARK.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN PHOTOGRAPHY or FILMMAKING, VISITING REMOTE LOCATIONS, ENJOY ENGAGING WITH DIFFERENT CULTURES, AND FINDING YOURSELF IN PLACES WELL BEYOND THE BEATEN TRACK, THEN THIS IS FOR YOU.
THE MAIN FEATURE OF THIS TRIP IS THE HORNBILL FESTIVAL.
Celebrated every year within the environs of a heritage village called Kisama, Hornbill Festival is an annual cultural extravaganza celebrated by tribal people across the state of Nagaland. We'll have visited many of their villages in the preceding days. The festival is named for the stunning and much admired hornbill, a bird that is prominent in the folklore of most of the state’s tribes.
It's a unique opportunity to see all the Naga tribes gather in a week-long extravaganza of dance, folk song, parades, games, and some highly ecclectic sporting endeavours.
You'll visit the rolling hills of Assam and stay on a working tea plantation.
There will be more than a dozen tribes attending the Hornbill Festival, proudly retaining much of their unique cultural heritage (not headhunting of course!).
And I haven't even mention we are visiting Kazaringa National Park, one of the best places in the world to see One Horned Rhino and Tigers!
